Vorn (Payasam)


Method:

Soak one cup of raw rice  for about two hours and grind fine. Keep aside

Boil two cups of Moong dhal with coconut milk (thin – second extract). When dhal is almost done, add 5 cubes of jaggery, crushed cardamom and thick coconut milk (first extract).  At this point add the finely ground raw rice paste.  Keep stirring, till cooked. Add salt to taste. Check consistency of the vorn. Garnish with nuts of your choice (preferably cashewnuts and almonds).
