Kids Can Cook – 5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake

We are introducing a new feature in our ‘Bring On The Chef In You’food blog on our First Anniversary.

‘Kids Can Cook’

Its time we involved our kids too in planning meals. Most of us already do….

It’s a new way for kids to learn, create, value and have fun…….

It’s time for a party.

Devon Serrao, Our official Critic and Motivator brings to you, a 5-minutes Chocolate Cake-in-a-Mug.

Its easy, quick, and most of all its safe – cos we use the microwave…Yes the Microwave. So whenever Devon needs a chocolate fix, he is in the kitchen fixing himself a 5 minute chocolate-mug cake.

Ingredients : 1 egg, 5 tablespoons sugar, 4 tablespoons flour, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 3 tablespoons milk, 3 tablespoons oil, pinch of salt, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg (with a hand whisk) till creamy. Then add sugar and whisk till dissolved. Add flour, cocoa powder, milk, oil, vanilla essence and salt and beat for 1 minute. Divide equally in three microwave safe mugs. Microwave separately for 1 minute on high. Wait till cool and then have with cream or icecream or even plain. (For variation – Vanilla Cake, skip the cocoa and add same quantity of flour and extra vanilla essence).
